About

About the Artist

I am a self-taught painter working primarily in acrylic on art panels and canvas. My process is intuitive and physical, guided more by feeling than by strict plans, and my work grows out of a love for simplicity, texture, and honest mark-making.

Beyond painting, I build custom furniture, write children’s books, and help care for the small Vermont homestead my family and I rebuilt—our barn-woodshop, art studio, chickens, and pond are all part of the life that inspires my work. I took a seven-year break from painting and have recently returned to the studio; the work currently on this site reflects my earlier pieces, with new paintings beginning to appear in 2026. Across everything I make, I think of myself as a “creative creator,” approaching each project with curiosity, play, and a desire to let my inner voice quietly speak.  (More about browndogswoodworking.com, not sure about this here ?)

Artist Statement

My work allows my soul to have it’s own voice, and that voice has a central place in my creation as it is visible through out my work.

My intent is to keep my paintings and drawings simple, utilizing basic elements such as texture, color, lines, and marks as those elements create a language which allow the individual viewer to respond to, identify with and complete the work through their own experiences and perhaps the experience has allowed their inner voice to be heard in ways they have not experienced before.
